EVE online
I'm getting back into EVE again, but I'm starting completely over. I'm wiping out my characters and just seeing what I can do copmletely anew. Call me a moron or whatever, but, meh...
my new character shall be called:
tehuberpwnage31111199275 !!!!
no, seriously.
I'm thinking...
still thinking.....
my brain hurts!
but the name shall be...
Gertal Letvarin
I know that there are a bunch of people from here that do EVE.
I've been reading the forums, and I hope that within 2-3 months I'll be able to pay for my account solely with the ISK I make IG, and use it to buy a GTC (Game Time Card).
Some people hate it, but I need every cent I can to pay for college!
if I can't get enough ISK scraped together in that time to pay for a GTC, then I'll be sad...
but...eventually I'll be able to do it.

I hear that one. My college is 100% paid for. Unfortunately, bills, on the other hand....
EVE can be quite fun, if you know how to work with it. And avoid the morons that have nothing better to do than gank anyone lower than ten "levels" below them....
You have a right to remain silent... I hope to God you use it.

I have two accounts, one is a month old (my old one), and my new trial one.
I have decided that my old one will be my mining alt, and my new one will be the one to clear rats....
HOWEVER, my old one is currently inactive.

I used to up until about march this year. I took time away from SWG to try it out as most of my SWG guild had evacuated to Eve around the NGE.
I played for about 3 months I think. Good game, fun, but a bit limited I thought.
Before you all start let me explain why.
I am a fighter by nature, I'm also a bit simple (not really but it's the best description I can come up with quickly)
I'm not a trader.
Nor am I good at running things.
And when it comes to combat I'm not tactical (at least if I am I don't know I am)
So any of the "intriege(sp?)" of EVE was completely lost on me.
Running a corp of mining to make stuff does not interest me.
And Combat is, to me others may have different opinions, limited.
Lets see two combat moves - keep distance or orbit but otherwise it fell down to the better equipment loadout per ship. (and ship/weapon class also). And I just aint that anal to be honest.
Plus I was never to comfortable with the skill/training system.

Unfortunatly I'm limited by cash and time at the moment.
I have a station access sub and that allows me to play SWG and Matrix Online. Plus I have a copy of Guild wars here somewhere. I mostly play SWG but move to MxO when I need a break from SWG.
I'm going for a new job in work if I get it, it will mean more money and more regular hours. Fingers crossed I may get time to play Eve then.

Yea other than the 3 months break I took after the NGE I will be playing SWG for 4 years this October (or is it 3?) Basically I've been playing since the European release, and was involved in the Beta aswell.
I still really like SWG. I was disillusioned at the begining of the year because I was getting bad frame rates and the game became almost unplayable because of it but it turned out to be a combination of a faulty video card and that SWG has issues with Nvidia cards.
So recently I bought myself an ATi x1600 PRO (512mb version) and I've been having a blast again. To be honest the new combat system is really starting to grow on me, although it still can be awkward sometimes. Some nice changes have been made recently that have helped aswell. Weapon damage is back to being DPS based rather than level based. NPC's have been made harder.
Grouping is back - always fun - although with current population on the servers it can be hard to find a group.
And the new expertese system is coming with the next big chapter/publish.
So while it aint the game I signed up for all those years ago I still find it fun. Actually I think I find combat more engaging now then it was pre NGE (curse me if you will but thats my opinion)

So you know Maul you can't run an Alt and your Main at the same time. If you run two instances of EVE they have to be two seperate accounts. Oh BTW for the record I think Red Dagger may have broken a record for War Dec's. Someone went out and hired a merc corp for 1 billion isk per week to war dec Red Dagger Fleet. So far we've taken only 1 loss and that was a hauler because I couldn't get it into station fast enough

Also Gonesolo, there are many different aspects to the combat. Tackling, scrambling/jamming/webbing/ nossing (all which you will learn about if you have never played the game) pure damge fighters, energy transfers and support ships, recon ships, stealth bombers; all these things add up to the combat (which I would like to have right now cause I'm in a bad mood and sick of these mercs running from me) . Anyway I have three main ships, I have my damage guy (tempest), my tackler (typhoon) and then my smaller guy that likes to kill things (Wolf). All of them have differnt set ups and things that help them to be better at what they do, are there guys out there that could take me, of course, anyone can beat anyone else on any given day. But that is part of the excitment I get from doing battle in here.
... BUt that is jsut me.

I'm actually back playing Eve now for a while (missed my guild/corp too much) Thinking now what kind of fighter I should be.
Was considering working my way up to a megathron but also pulled towards the sneaky methods of a stealth bomber (I really like that idea plus I REALLY like missiles in Eve they hit HARD)

Vox what's your ETA on being back in EVE? Ordo's going to hit Transport Ships IV Friday Morning and will be on his way to Transport V by then and I was curious on exactlly when I'd hand back control of that character to you. And yes I've taken good care of him and only got him podded 20 times j/k

I'll be back Saturday...and why are you training transports V? It should be Minmatar Industrial V :-P I checked his skills a few days ago and saw that Minmatar Industrial wasn't trained at all so he can't use blockade runners until that is trained. You goof. Let Transports IV finish though and just start minmatar industrial.
To answer your question, I'll be back saturday night.

Is EVE any good? Ive looked at the site and its alot cheaper then wow (almost 5 dollars cheaper per 3 month subscription)
So I was wondering is it fun, I've read through the site and I liked the concept but the never getting out of the ship thing could get old.
I also like the no leveling system that could be fun if your a newbie.
And the other things outside of the usual kill kill kill should make it more interesting.
Is it easy for the game to be shut down and then picked back up in a day or so?

I've played EVE for nearly two years now and I've played WoW here and there and they are two different games. EVE is slower to develop and completely PvP oriented (when I say completely I mean PvP comes before everything to the developers) and WoW is completely seamless where EVE is not.
Both games are fun for different reasons and I gladly pay subscriptions for both...well..EVE pays for itself.
I love EVE and it gives two full weeks to check everything out. It isn't that bad just remember that EVE doesn't get going till about your....third month when you get away from training skills to make you train faster and into the stuff that makes the game really move.
Mace, don't stress it mate just start Minmatar Industrial I'll live but moving the corp will just be more difficult now.

Corp won't make the move with the war going on and after this is over I think it may be good that we all sit down and reasess our tactical situation and make the final judgement on a move from there.

Why does everyone always blame me
Nope we got merc'ed, we think we know by who but so far so good, they run when we log. Or they wait for some small guy to be by themselves.
