"Destiny is not a matter of chance, but of choice. Not something to wish for, but to attain." The tales of generations span the ages, limitless in comparison to time itself. Some tales are lost, yet some are re-lived. These are tales of the past and of the present. Somewhere, at some point in time, a new story is always born. Tales of an Imperial officer, a rogue mercenary, a New Republic citizen. A timeless story. From the depths of civilization, there is a unique aspect in every story, and this is where those stories come alive. July 11th, 2005: The Story of the Story Threads~ Posted on Saturday January 21st, 2006 at 9:32pm by NeugeThere's always something to do in the Story Threads. Unbound by constraints of time and place, the stories are able to be varied and new. Yet, they remain in the Star Wars universe, giving these tales the familiar feel of that galaxy we feel so at home in. Commanding a clone army, portraying a brave jedi knight, living it up in the Clone Wars setting; that's the premise behind Enemy of the Republic an engaging story told by a handful of top-notch roleplayers. Weda Scami, who's title is, well, Enemy of the Republic, has given a great feel to this clone-filled venture, including an attention-grabbing yellow-texted introduction you can almost imagine scrolling slowly down your screen. Or, you can use your mouse wheel, crank up the nearest copy of the Star Wars soundtrack, and let your imagination tumble off into this rich adventure. Living a life as a street thief, working your way through a wretched hive of scum and villany, rising through the ranks of urchins, street scum, and thieves; it's a tale told before, but not often in a Star Wars setting. The fantasy-tinged jaunt The Birth of Death is a one-man venture by Jack_Sigma that bends the lines of what you think when you hear Star Wars; It's a solo tale that doesn't take place on any planet you've heard of, in a very unique setting that, as he weaves layers of place upon one another, the reader becomes more and more interested. And with the recent cinematic-induced interest in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (or, HHGTTG, in acronymese), it's not surprising to see that long-time HHGTTG fan Xfiend1013 (that's me!) has hatched a hitchhikin' good time of a plan in The Hitchhiker's Guide to a Galaxy Far Away. It's a full-open thread where anyone can pick up any character - from bit-part Star Wars cameos, to the Hitchhikers of Douglas Adams, to the intrepid adventurers of Star Wars. Indeed, nothing is sacred anymore. Ah, Space Patrol: Will it ever end? With ninety parts in it's epic past, you might think not. But, long ago, it was called "Space Port Patrol," and featured a checkered cast of galactic misfits engaging foes across a dangerous, Star Wars-reference filled galaxy. With the apparent petering-out of the old franchise, a new one has arisen. Unlike a popular set of new Trilogies I could name, however; Space Port Patrol Part II: Choice and Consequence is a fun, detail-oriented, well-written experience with some good new blood in it's veins. There are other great threads out there in the Story Threads Forum; but these are the ones I've chosen to highlight today. I'd like to thank all the skilled authors of these works, and congratulate them for locating their fiction in the wonderful Story Threads setting. See you soon, Star Wars fans.
