Re: Reboot: Determining Our Canon

Wookieepedia pretty much lines up with what Red Dragon is saying, although there is some discrepancy among the articles (one says disarmament was passed after Jakku and the Galactic Concordance, another only a few months after Endor; one spot implies no treaty was signed for a month after Jakku, ano...

well tough titties toenails, its been okie dokied. I had to reboot my brain at this point, but other than that, I find those points eminently practical and on point. It occurred to me that we might also avoid some of the extended arguing if we make a rule that there is no statute of limitations on ...

The Sins of the Father

Village of the Setti tribe, Orto Plutonia "You useless pile of hail." The words, spoken in Modig's native tongue of Talzzi, would have sounded like a series of guttural grunts to a human ear, some drawn out, some stopped short. To Modig Falla, it was the frequent curse of his wretched father. Onyr ...

Re: Reboot: New Canon Galaxy

To clarify, I think "fresh start" refers to a mentality, not a timeline. It could work with any timeline (we could have a fresh start during the Old Republic era, or after ANH, or after RotJ, or around TFA). We have chosen to have our fresh start around TFA, which I approve of.

Re: Reboot: Determining Our Canon

TL;DR: I like Option 3, but Option 2 is more practical. Rebooting is about the fresh start and making our canon marketable. My "reasonableness" guide relies on people knowing when to ask the Story Coordinator/moderators for a decision. Small stuff--basic equipment, unimportant worlds, starship vari...

It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission. I don't know about better , but it's certainly easier . Which I'm okay with, under the circumstances. If I'm getting a sense of what X is talking about, explaining it in a more linear rules basis, it's: Allow people to do what they want, but if so...

Re: Reboot: Determining Our Canon

I like the option where we're generally reasonable people, and we can add things to canon that make no difference to canon, but make writing our stories easier and more Star Wars -y. I mean, the rules about being overpowered are still in the proposal, which means no Sun Crushers, no Eclipse Star Des...

I don't think using Selonia would necessitate assuming the existence and use of Centerpoint Station any more than Star Wars Rebels ' mentioning Malachor assumes the events of KotOR 2 in their entirety, or the potential mention of Thrawn assumes the events of Outbound Flight . My thoughts are out the...

I'm necroposting here to mention that I'm eating my words. Well, not quite. I still think Season 1 was bad. But Season 2 was a huge, huge improvement. WALL OF TEXT WARNING. TL;DR: I'm still not happy. :P I'll explain better what I mean. Take Balmorra for example. #BALMORRA #FightForBalmorra. Sorry, had to get that out of the way. Re: Reboot: New Canon Galaxy

The destruction of a planet seems unlikely (although, in fairness, they basically did it to Geonosis). It seems implied by Episode VII that, after Endor, the Empire had no more superweapons. And it seems unlikely that the Republic would go around blowing up planets. And if it comes to that, I'm happ...

Re: Reboot: New Canon Galaxy

Because in a galaxy such as Star Wars's, you're expecting to see more than one planet per primary terrain. (Save for, perhaps, Coruscant.) What would you rather have? Episode VII have stuff happen on "another Tatooine," or wind up asking, "Why does everything have to happen on Tatooine?" (Replace w...

Re: Reboot: New Canon Galaxy

It's not a matter of having worlds to "conquer", it's about the Disney canon having too few worlds to feel like a galaxy. This. I can create a world if I really want to, but at least half the point of RPing in Star Wars is that I don't have to . It's the same reason I wouldn't have created Jakku if...

Re: Reboot: New Canon Galaxy

That's pretty much what's available, what's listed there. But that's just it. The articles don't list everything that's on the map (e.g., the Outer Rim world of Tatooine), and the map doesn't show everything that's in the articles. Which means, if I want to know what planets I'm "allowed" to use, I...

Re: Reboot: New Canon Galaxy

I don't see any decent Wiki pages that list or map the planets we can use, then. I go to "Colonies," and it lists four planets. "Expansion Region" lists three star systems and two planets. Core Worlds lists a whopping 13. Mid Rim is okay, with 16 planets and 2 moons. The Outer Rim article technicall...

I don't think that really counts as many worlds. Especially since you have to rule out Starkiller Base origin point (not actually a world), Rakata Prime, Yavin, and Korriba-- I mean, Moraband as being canonically unpopular/unknown. And Endor (unless you're an Ewok), Hoth (unless you're a wampa), Fel...

With or without the EU, Force user =/= Jedi & lightsabers necessarily.

But I have no qualms about it being limited to two "at first." What are the chances I run out of story ideas for my first two Forcers in the next (generously) five years, at the rate I post IC? :P

I initially balked at the "2 sensitives only" rule, too, for what it's worth. Does it rule out having a canon-sourced Forcer like, say, a Knight of Ren? Or are those ruled out entirely on account of insufficient source material? I dunno. I had at least 3-4 ideas for Force sensitives, and none of the...
