I'm back (used to post here as "Nuura")

Post by Khaehik »

Hey everybody. I figured it might be a good idea to make a post introducing myself to the people who don't know me and (depending on who's still here from when I last posted a decade or something ago) make people who do remember me go "Oh yeah, I remember you, where'd you go anyway?" :)

So yeah, I RP'd in some threads on the original SWG forums and was part of the Exodus when they decided "Hey, we don't want no RP'ing here no more, cut it out!" My username was Nuura (I tried to log in with that, but obviously it's been ages so I wasn't terribly surprised when that didn't work). I guess it's just as well, since the wiki says there's another thing with the same name: the Nuura Trade Star. So when creating a new account I decided to go with the name of one of my other characters from when I still played SWG, that being "Khaehik".

(In-game, Khaehik was also a Rodian. Because for some unknowable reason I have always thought Rodians were cool-looking.)

Speaking of the wiki, there seems to have been a TON of world-building (or rather, galaxy-building) in the time I've been gone, so I'll probably need to consult it a lot.

Anyway, that's all I can think to say right now. I hope that everybody I know from the old days (and I do see some familiar names) has been doing all right over the years, and look forward to getting involved in a thread or two in the near future!

I've been here since nearly Day 1 SWG, but I can't recall Nuura. It's vaguely familiar. :(

Either way, welcome back Nuura! :)

I do recall, actually. You did that story that never went far with me and Jag'tai on Eriadu, Twilight's Ascension.

... which is why there is a Nuura Trade Star actually. I've grabbed names from a few places, and Nuura sounded fitting, so...

Nonsens, we are nice folk. All we ask is 5,000 pounds of gold, half your lifestock and one of your daughters. That seems a fair deal, I think.

Right, but if he pays tribute, we don't have to brawl or burn stuff at all. That's the point of tribute.

After all, gold given is better than gold taken (and saves more warriors for the next brawl).

A smart one.

There will be brawling, fear not. We sail for Switzerland soon, and they never pay tribute :D

Then why do they keep losing all their wars? :P

EDIT: The vikings didn't lose, they just stopped due to Christianity (and better defence among their victims).

The Mandos "kept losing" only when galactic superpowers (Galactic Republic and Jedi, notably) combined forces to take them out, and even then, only under notable circumstances was it considered something to even remotely resembling an "easy fight."

So I fail to see your point. :fett:

Funny, I seem to remember a bunch of mercenaries and smugglers banding together and defeating their blockade. Besides, a defeat is still a defeat, no matter how difficult it is for the winning side.

And I never said fighting the Mandos were easy.

Oh, yes, one has to be realistic. I mean, the swiss 'lost' to Milano at one point. Given the fact that it was 16000 vs 2500 and the Swiss STILL killed more italians than vice versa, I don't really count that as 'lost' :D

Oooh, they defeated a blockade. Scary. I also seem to remember the Rebels defeated an Imperial blockade of Hoth with a planetary ion cannon. Must mean the Empire really sucked.

And I seem to remember that the Mandalorians were pretty much wiped out time after time after time. Their great victories were usually against backwater planets or Republic militia.

Mandalorians are cool, yes. But they are sh*t compared to Vikings. Period.

Negative. "Wiped out" implies that there are no traces left. Ergo, they were never wiped out.

Comparatively, Mir, comparatively. In that sense, the Vikings were much more successful than the Mandos ever were.

Cadden, I said "pretty mcuh", ergo they were not wiped out, they were almost wiped out (reduced to a handful)-

And yes, the Empire did suck. Not only did they lose two Death Stars out of arrogance, but as soon as the Emperor was gone, it pretty much fell apart.

Doesn't matter, much, anyway. 'Cause they weren't. And each time they came back in full swing. You can flaunt defeat as an argument all you want, but when more often than not that requires half the freakin' galaxy to do so, it kind of becomes a bit hollow....

Didn't the Mandalorians almost bring the Republic to its knees before Revan got involved? Oh, and the only reason they were defeated was because Revan had to destroy an entire planet to do it, which killed thousands of Mandalorian soldiers and Republic troopers alike. Just sayin'. ;)
