I really liked the Batman Foreve movie, the story was very well done - my favourite super hero film thus far! With Spidy and the 1st Xmen a close 2nd :)

The Incredible Hulk will be far more Comic Book Based than HULK. They're trying to redeem it in a comic book fashion, by separating the sucky parts as "a different universe".

Fantastic Four is balls, sucked. Could be ok with the Silver Surfer, if not just for the fact that Galactus is in it as well. (Galactus being one of the coolest villians... of all time)

Spidy 3 is gonna be good, of course. 'nuff said.

Superman Returns was a great movie, so Superman (Returns) 2 will hopefully be just as good, or about as good.

Never checked any Nick Fury, sorry.

Thor and Iron Man are both good, but I think Iron Man has a much more chance to fail. Thor is just a better character to me.

Batman (Begins) 2 and 3 are going to be ill, no joke. They did such a great job with Batman Begins they know they have a lot to work with.

And let's not forget Ghost Rider... which looks like it's going to blow.
Institution! Making you think you're crazy is a billion dollar industry!
If they could sell sanity in a bottle they'd be charging for compressed air,
and marketing health care.
They demonize welfare,
middle-class eliminated,
the rich get richer 'til the poor get educated.

Yeah the Incredible Hulk is, as far as I know, somewhere between a sequel and a "do over", which is the worst damn idea ever. I mean yeah, the first one sucked because of Absorbing Man and I suppose there wasn't enough "HULK SMASH!" for some people...but you can only have him pound on so much.

Also Captain Marvel movie rumored and the Watchmen have yet another director and writer attached to it, but since this is like the tenth time this has happened over twenty years, the movie is still never getting made.

Heh. I only wanna see it 'cause of two reasons:

1) Wolverine is my favorite X-Man.

2) Hugh Jackman's a pretty good actor.

The only comic book film I'm looking forward to.

Okay so it's a cartoon primarily, but I was a hardcore collector of the comics when I was a kid too.

Wolverine is my fav X-man too....but the one we see in X1-3 is NOT Wolverine.

That's a Marine with claws. Not the all-out pure-instincts take-no-prisoners "I'm gonna kill ya, Bub" Wolvie from the comics.

they don't even have him say "Bub" in the movies!

I didn't get to see the movie when it was released in the cinema(despite being a big fan) Couple of years ago I found it on DVD and snapped it up. Have to say I teared up at the Prime death scene (was funny when my son asked me why I was crying)

They started on the true character in X-2, with I think the intent on making him all-out Wolvie in 3 (if it weren't for all that director fiasco crap going on). 'Course, we never got to see that, 'cause Bryan Singer left for Superman (traitor!), and we got stuck with Ratner.

And he does say "bub" in the movies. X-1:

(When Sabertooth tosses Wolvie over the edge, and Wolvie comes back later to finish him off)

"Hey, bub, I'm not finished with you yet."

X-2:

(When Wolvie is fighting the soldiers invading the house)

"You picked the wrong house, bub."

However, I don't think he had a "bub" line in 3....

From what I've heard Bryan left because Halle Berry whined about not getting a big part and she made the script writers re-write the script several times and Bryan got fed up with having to deal with her, and went to do Superman.

That's why Storm is a grumpy, whiney, stick-up her butt character who has suddenly lost all of her endearing qualities as well as her accent.

Speaking of suddenly lost, anyone know why Nightcrawler wasn’t in X3 and what’s the in-story explanation?

Yes the game was supposed to take place during the movie at points not seen, where Nightcrawler was doing missions and would have never been in the same place as the rest of the crew.

Buddy, you posted two different cars. The yellow one is BB after he gets a sexy prototype camero body. The cop car IS a Mustang. It's Brawl and he's a Decepticon. Look at his little shield by the front tire, it's a Dec logo.
I know the pic of them both is one pic, but wanted to clarify.

Anyway boy oh boy do I love Comic-Con. Three comic movie related items I shall share.

1) Peter Cullen has been cast as Optimus. Thank God for that, now I will never totally hate the movie no matter what is done with it.

2) http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/teenag ... jaturtles/ What. The. Hell.

3) The Joker has apperently been cast. Guess who? Whoever you're guessing is wrong. It's Heath Ledger. Take this with a grain of salt though because the Joker casting rumor mill has been spinning steadily. But appearently Heath is legit unless he backs out.

I could have sworn that was the new Camaro concept...

As for them killing Optimus, don't count on it in this movie. They'll almost certainly leave it open for a franchise direction, and that means no killing the main hero until at least the next movie. Otherwise, you'd have pissed off fans boycotting the sequel.

Hollywood doesn't care about the story so much as the money, and very few directors have enough pull to change their minds.

Heath Ledger's the Joker? Ugh...

Does anyone else think it would have been freakin' sweet if they'd cast Mark Hamill? Anyone? I mean, he was the voice for long enough... I just can't see Ledger being that sadistic... no matter how much make-up they put on him. Arg.

Archangel wrote:Heath Ledger's the Joker? Ugh...
See here's the thing. We haven't seen Ledger's Joker at all. Christopher Nolan has appearently. Meaning, somewhere along the line Heath did something very good. It wasn't like he was the only guy who wanted to be the Joker. Lachey Hulme, Robin Williams, Sean Penn were all rumored to want it at one point. The thing I am most upset about? Is that Crispen Glover isn't the Joker.

But Heath should do fine. I can easily imagine him looking like the Joker, but acting like him I can't mainly because we don't know what kind of Joker we'll be having. I am guessing a very very disturbing one. The acting bar was set pretty damn high in the first movie, I doubt Nolan would add on a poor actor to the already superb cast he has. And Ledger is a good actor.

Also here is the article and a photo of Heath's GIANT mouth.

http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/719/719898p1.html

Also really guys, I want Mark Hamill to get work like the next guy, and I own the Batman Animated Series DVDs, but Mark wouldn't be a good choice for this. He's too old, his Joker is too goofy, and above all, the average movie goer is going to have a hard time accepting that Luke Skywalker is in white face paint.

Yeah I was talking about the yellow car though. I guess a camero that looks like a mustang is what you get when you have a mustang specialist (Saleen) make a Camero.

Don't underestimate Heath Ledger. He's an aswesome actor. He's right up there on my favorites list with the likes of Christopher Lambert (who is also awesome - just saw one of his latest, Day of Wrath... good movie, but unexpected plot) and Han Solo - err, Harrison Ford. :P

He'd make a great Joker, but I wouldn't count on him being the Joker. They need to find someone to fit all the personality traits of the Joker, not just the looks and the age. I've never seen Heath do a villain role, so I don't know if this would be a good first-time choice if he decided to take that route.

Actually I am staking him doing a great job of being the Joker. The thing is we'll have to see how they spin the Joker before we can judge Ledger's suitability. Because there is no one single interpretation of the Joker. Lemme show you.

Burton's take on the character was the ruination of beauty, one of his pet themes. Jack Napier is vain, so his disfigurement distorts his whole aesthetic. Unable to accept that he's ugly, he redefines everything around himself: his girlfriend, the museum, and ultimately Gotham itself. Jack Nicholson was perfect casting in general. The thing is, he was just Jack Nicholson.

Now into the world of comics, Alan Moore's Joker in The Killing Joke is an everyman who has his whole life changed around him by forces he can't control. Lacking the forceful personality of Jack Napier, he snaps. Fate has made him a clown, so he tries to find humor in a tragic world. For this version of the character we'd want an actor who can play a timid nebbish, but still flare into manic intensity convincingly. Crispin Glover who I've mentioned several times would do well here. If you don't know who he is, he's Marty's dad in Back to the Future. Don't think he's creepy? Watch his other movies, Willard for example.

Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum Joker is the only one of his kind, a "super-sane" man in an insane world. He changes to fit the circumstances, like the Killing Joke version, but constantly. He's a nuisance one day and a murderous fiend the next, and he sees no contradiction. For this character we'd need a truly immersive actor, someone who can create a whole world in his head and let us see fragments of it through his eyes. Johnny Depp could pull it off.

There are as many Jokers as there are Batman writers. He can be a foppish dandy, a drooling lunatic or a sneering, calculating crime boss. Ledger, given his good looks and presence, would work good with all of these really. And he might surprise us with unexpected depth, as in Brokeback Mountain.

Of course chances are Nolan and Goyer are coming up with a whole new Joker, an amalgam of all interpretations, much as Bruce in Begins is a mixture of several takes. So he'll be something totally new, but I am guessing he'll be very very dangerous.

Not to nit pick but in the original series Brawl was a tank, part of the Combaticons team who when joined together made Bruticus.

(Yes I know too much about transformers)

But to be honest this is a strong reminder of the new cartoon series which has seriously changed the look of some old characters who many of us grew up with (Megatron for example looks NOTHING like he originally did and instead of transforming into a gun turns into some kind of fighter dealy - WTF)

No I know Brawl was a tank. But for the movie, he's the cop car. There is a tank as well but apperently they are calling him Devestator. Fanboys are all arage at this but really....the Construcicons would be too out there for this movie.

Too out there? A bunch of robots who merge together to form an even bigger one isn't that far away from cars that turn into robots, at least in my opinion.

I can understand Hollywood wanting to keep it "realistic" so non-fans can "relate," but honestly, trying to keep it too realistic for an established property like the Transformers is only going to get them into trouble again. Mark my words.

I think peeing off the existing fan base is a big mistake. Look at SOE and SWG. a LOT of people will never trust SOE again after how bad they burned the fan base on that one.

They should not mess with established characters. Hell even the storyline shouldn't be messed with too much

The story line is in need of a big overhaul in the case of the movie. Let's face facts here, the cartoons wer not nearly as good as we all remember. It's a shocking thing to say, but eventually we all need to accept it. The cartoon and comics were created specifically to sell toys. Now, obviously the movie is going to have a huge merchandising push, but also must be something to entertain and appeal to the masses. So changes must be made, the teams trimmed down, some characters given new names to make them more marketable, or just plain less silly, and certain things like the Constructicons need to be left out because they are just ridiculous. You have five construction machines, slow moving vehicles, expected to keep up with jets and tanks. And then these five domestic pieces of equipment combine to make one giant robot? No, it doesn't work for a movie that is trying to be realstic. Or as realistic as a movie about giant fighting robots can be. It makes as much sense as Soundwave being a tapedeck. And though I am honestly upset that he isn't, I see why he isn't.

The other changes, making Brawl a cop car, do make sense. Why not have one of the evil guys disgused as something that human's associate with good? Seriously if you were to see two robots fighting (just stay with me here) and one was a cop car and the other a 70s Camaro...which would be the good guy? The cop right? Well the cop just blasted off your head!

Really they can make as many changes as they want, they are trying to capture the essence of the show. The thing is, a lot of that essence is tied up with characters. Or at least a few. For example Optimus, many people who don't watch the show or read the comics or know anything about Transformers know about Optimus Prime. Now, Peter Cullen has been cast as Optimus, this is great because really Cullen is a talented as heck voice actor and he knows the character. On the other side apperently AICN released a so called pic of Optimus, which I think is fake, of him being a normal Semi with a exXxtreme flame paint job.

I think it's been verified that Optimus Prime is a long-nosed semi with an extreme flame paint job. Apparently the reason he's a long-nosed semi instead of a regular one is that when he's transformed the end product would only be about 20 feet tall (supposedly). With the long-nosed semi he'd be about 40-50 feet tall (Bay wants the transformation to feel real, no disappearing parts, or so he says). Anyway, I loved the original Transformers and even had some of the toys when I was a kid. When I heard it was going to be a movie I knew a lot of things were going to be changed, but I accepted that. As long as the end product is something I can enjoy I'll be fine with it, changes or no. I'm not going to condemn a movie just because a certain character is not a tape deck anymore.
